diu diu diu diu dang
for orchestra
Commissioned by Taipei Symphony Orchestra
Diu Diu Diu Diu Dang is a wild variation inspired by the Taiwanese folk tune Diu Diu Dang, which everyone who grew up in Taiwan would know how to sing. "Diu Diu Deng" is a song about the train's sound as it goes through a tunnel with water dripping from its ceiling. It's about how the train ride used to be through the Old Caoling Tunnel in New Taipei, Taiwan. In this piece, Diu Diu Diu Diu Dang, I hope to take the audience on a wilder journey of the old Taiwanese train.
