Shiuan & Yuan

Influenced by luminaries like Christo & Jean-Claude and Studio Drift, composer Shiuan Chang and designer Yuanyuan Ma join forces to create a symbiotic artistic endeavor. Blending their aptitudes in music, performance, and spatial design, their collaborative initiative aspires to birth expansive sound installation artworks that seamlessly meld immersion, interactivity, and technological innovation. An overarching aspiration is to forge partnerships across diverse domains, thereby realizing a tapestry of artistic expression that harmoniously unites various realms and industries.

In 2016, Shiuan met his life partner, Yuanyuan Ma, in New York. Yuanyuan, an interior designer, has a keen instinct for how space and objects can change people’s behavior. In 2018, they joined forces to create a unique language that integrates both of their professions: Shiuan’s focus on the relationship between the state of motion and sound and Yuanyuan’s interest in how space and objects influence behavior. Their collaboration centers on how Motion/Behavior creates the perimeter of space and sound.
